University Level

Currently, I am a teacher educator, working with pre-service teachers in the College of Education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. As an Assistant Teaching Professor, I offer classes in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have also taught courses on social studies methods, and on diversity and inclusion in the classroom. At the graduate level, I have taught courses in qualitative research methods and standards-based assessment for learning.

Secondary Level

I have taught middle and high school social studies in public and private schools in the Bronx, New York, and in Columbia, Missouri. Courses included US History, World History, and Humanities (World History and English Language Arts). I have been certified to teach Social Studies and Special Education in Grades 5 to 12 by the state of Missouri.

Adult Education

I started out in the classroom as an ESOL teacher for adults. I volunteered for several NGOs and community groups in Southeast Asia, mostly those serving refugees, migrants, and exiles from Burma/Myanmar.
