I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the College of Education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I hold a Ph.D. in Learning, Teaching, and Social Policy from Cornell University. I provide Burmese language interpreting services for public schools, and I have served as a consultant for international organizations including the World Bank and DFID. I also teach insight meditation at Show Me Dharma. My textbook, Teaching US History Thematically: Document-Based Lessons for the Secondary Classroom, was published by Teachers College Press in 2017, and my novel, Have Fun in Burma, was published by Northern Illinois University Press in 2018. I am currently working on a sequel to my US textbook, Teaching World History Thematically—check this Facebook page for updates. I live in Columbia, MO, with my husband and two children.
